Glenn Mikkleson – Fly Tyer- Joins the Party

We are proud to have Glenn Mikkleson join us at the fly tying bench at the Montauk Fishing Party! No matter how hard I try to tie an epoxy that looks good, I will never be able to replicate what Glenn can do with his eyes closed.

“What one finds with a Mikkleson fly is an extraordinary attention to quality. His flies are perfectly balanced, foul resistant and extremely durable. As a commercial fly tier Glen believes strongly in giving his clients a product that will stand the test of many fish. Paraphrasing one of his beliefs, Glen is fond of saying that any fly which falls apart after one fish is poorly designed and poorly tied. While this may seem obvious, low quality flies can easily begin to malfunction in unsuspecting ways that make them ineffective. Fouling is another issue that Glen works hard to prevent in his patterns. His epoxy bait fish designs are some of the most foul resistant in use today.” angelo peluso

Look forward to watching the masters on Sept 19th!

Author of Moon Pulled up an Acre of Bass – Peter Kaminsky as Special Guest

The Moon Pulled up an Acre of Bass has now become a must read book about the true nature of the Montauk fall run. Peter has eloquently described the blitzes in a way that only a true fisherman can, by being there, day after day, in total absorption. The book has reached far beyond anglers, and has exposed the fanatical world of salt water fly fishing to food enthusiasts, nature lovers, and the bewildered  spouses and loved ones of those afflicted with the obsession.

Looking forward to seeing you on the 19th Peter!

Just got off the phone with Dave Skok, and guess what, He is coming out to the party with his vice ( fly tying that is), his fly rods and his camera!

Dave is one of the “next Generation” fly tyers/inventors that has taken the eastern seaboard by storm. He has created the well known MushMouth, and continues to question the old beliefs of the former days of fly fising

“Dave’s skill with rod, vise, pen and camera has been featured in over a dozen books including Bob Veverka’s Innovative Saltwater Flies (Stackpole, 1999), Rich Murphy’s Fly Fishing for Striped Bass (Wild River Press, 2007) and numerous periodicals including The Drake, Field & Stream, Fish & Fly, Fly Fisherman, Fly Fishing in Saltwaters, Fly Fishing & Tying Journal, Marlin, Motor Boating, Offshore, Saltwater Fly Fishing, Salt Water Sportsman, Sedge & Mayfly (Italy) and Sportfishing amongst others.” Patagonia
