Not only is Montauk the fishing capital of the east end, there are a host of non-related fishing activities. September is the most breathtaking time of year to be out east, and the beaches are empty, the water warm, and the restaurants are open for business. There are great hiking trails, horseback riding and surfing in Montauk and East Hampton is only 20 minutes away and has great shops and great sales that time of year.
